Help

Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to find out about lessons, book and manage them. Here's where we are, what we know isn't perfect yet, and how to get help.

Draft: awaiting final review by FOF Driving School

Our commitment

We aim to make this website and our online booking usable by as many people as reasonably possible, whatever device or assistive technology you use. If anything gets in your way, we'll help you another way and work to fix it.

What we've built in

  • Pages use headings and landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer) so screen readers and keyboard users can move around quickly.
  • You can use the menus, booking steps and forms with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Form fields have labels, and error messages are written in plain words.
  • Text and buttons are designed to meet minimum colour contrast, and the site works when you zoom in or use a narrow screen.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Nothing flashes, and there are no time limits except a short hold on a time slot while paying online, if card payment is offered.
  • The coverage map is optional; the same areas are listed as text.

How we've tested it

On 18 October 2026 we ran automated checks (axe-core, against WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules) on the public pages, the booking pages, sign-in and registration, and checked every page for horizontal scrolling at a 320 pixel width. We fixed the issues found, including colour contrast on red buttons and links, a missing label on the booking progress bar, and duplicate page landmarks.

Automated tools only find some problems. We haven't yet completed full manual testing with screen readers, or testing with disabled users, and the website hasn't been independently audited. We don't claim full conformance with WCAG 2.2 AA.

Known limitations

  • Some parts of the pupil portal and instructor dashboard have only had automated checks.
  • The map on the home page, when opened, is provided by OpenStreetMap and may not be fully accessible. Use the list of areas instead.
  • Card payments, when offered, take place on our payment provider's page, which we don't control.

Getting help or reporting a problem

If you have trouble using the website, you'd like information in a different format, or you'd like help booking or getting into your account, contact us:

When reporting a problem, it helps to tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you use. If you'd like a reasonable adjustment to how lessons are arranged, just ask and we'll talk it through.

What we're working on

  • Manual keyboard and screen reader testing of the booking journey and pupil portal.
  • Checking the instructor dashboard to the same standard.
